Located in Red Oak, this arch bridge crosses Red Oak Creek on an abandoned railroad alignment.
Built in 1879 during a line relocation, this bridge features a single stone arch. It is believed this arch was built for an original alignment of the east/west main line, but bypassed in 1903.
As the date stamp states 1879, this would be one of the oldest stone arches in Iowa. It still stands east of 8th Street and south of the existing railroad, and is still owned by BNSF according to GIS maps.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in good condition, with no visible serious deterioration.

The author has ranked this bridge as being moderately significant, due to the common design but older age.
